The campsite, part of the Castle and Park Farm Estates in Swanton Morley was founded by John Carrick in 2006. Having travelled the world, John had experienced both the good and bad of campsites, bunk houses and hostels. One of his favourite experiences was that of sites in New Zealand, with their laid back approach, spacious pitches and communal areas for late night cookouts.
All of which he brought to Park Farm Campsite, which was originally Hunters Hall campsite, being tagged onto the now thriving wedding venue next door. John and his team created quite the following of regular customers, and within 5 years the campsite was expanded and extended to allow for more people to come and visit this beautiful part of the world.
In March 2012 Derek and Julie took over management of the campsite with John being too busy with other parts of the estate. Most notably his rare breed cows down at Park Farm. Throughout Derek and his wife’s time running the site it grew further, Julie added a splash of colour with plants and flowerbeds (most of which are still visible today). They also added in the very first form of Glamping. In fact they were so successful at it that they were the winners of a Channel 4 Special; Four in a Camp Bed.
Julie sadly passed away in May 2021 and in May 2024 Derek retired. Ryan and Hannah took over the management of the campsite that same year.
