Things to Do on a Wintery Weekend in Norfolk

If you’re thinking of heading to our campsite in Swanton Morley, Norfolk for a winter camping getaway, you might be wondering what there is to do in the area during the colder months.

Here at Park Farm Camping Norfolk, we are located right in the heart of the region, offering plenty of opportunity for you and your family or friends to get out and explore all that Norfolk has to offer, no matter how cold it may get!

We have compiled a list of things to do during your stay with us in our caravan site near Dereham this winter. To find out more, or to book a pitch, please get in touch.

Walk Along the Norfolk Coast

Be sure to wrap up warm, the Norfolk coast gets supper chilly in the winter months. A coastal walk is the perfect way to blow away the cobwebs and enjoy some fresh air together as a family.

Whether you’re camping in Norfolk as a family, with friends or as a couple, there are a great variety of walks to try, with a mixture of difficulties and lengths.

After your walk, why not enjoy a hearty pub dinner before heading back to our Swanton Morley caravan site to warm up for the night.

Seal Spotting on a Boat Ride

Blakeney Point is home to one of England’s largest seal colonies. Winter is a great time to try and spot some of the seals, especially pups!

More than 2000 grey seal pups are born in Norfolk between November and January each year – this year we’re expecting up to 6000, making your winter camping holiday the perfect opportunity to take a boat trip out to view some winter wildlife up close without disturbance.

Go Crabbing

For the best crabbing spots in Norfolk, we recommend Wells-next-the-Sea. The famous Cromer crab is a well-loved delicacy which you will no doubt be able to sample in bistros throughout the region, but Wells-next-the-Sea offers plentiful opportunities for crabbing a little closer to the shore!

Crabbing is a great activity for all ages, making it a fun day out during your family camping holiday in Norfolk. Why not finish the day with seaside fish and chips before returning to our Swanton Morley campsite for a cosy night in.

Visit a Stately Home

Norfolk has so many breath-taking stately homes with stunning gardens to explore. As well as Sandringham which is where the Royal Family like to spend Christmas, nearby to our Dereham campsite, there’s the Blickling Estate, Houghton Hall and Oxburgh Hall, so you have plenty to choose from!

Most of these estates are open to the public, so why not take a day trip, wander the gardens, enjoy the tearooms during your winter stay with us at our caravan site.
